Naif was born in Kuwait in 1971 where he lived until going to Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. Naif went on to get a Ph.D., in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University and an MBA from Columbia University.

As a psychologist, Naif has extensive clinical experience working with former prisoners of war in Kuwait and the Survivors of Political Torture unit at Bellevue Hospital in New York.

In 2004, Naif founded Teshkeel Media Group in Kuwait. The company’s mission was to offer new role models to children around the world that were born of Middle Eastern history and Islamic culture and demonstrate universally shared values. In 2006, Teshkeel began publishing THE 99 comic book and in 2010 began production on THE 99 animation series.

Naif has been named one of ‘The 500 Most Influential Muslims’ by the Royal Islamic Strategic Center and presented with The Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurship Award at the 2009 World Economic Forum.
